Jessica O Matthews is the founder and CEO of Uncharted Power a renewable energy company specializing in motion-based, miniaturized power systems. Did I mention she founded this company at 22? And that when she was 19 she invented Soccket, a soccer ball that provides off grid power for developing nations? Ya. She invented Soccket, after she attended a wedding in Nigeria, when the lights went out. Nigeria has an unstable energy supply so it’s not uncommon. Diesel generators were brought out, but the fumes was hard to bear. So she created an alternative.

Matthews jokes that she tries to be a balance of Bill Nye and Beyonce, which makes me think she sounds like an amazing boss! She has dual citizenship from Nigeria & the U.S.. Matthews has a degree in Psychology and Economics from Harvard University, AND an MBA from Harvard Business School. She’s on fire having numerous accolades like Fortune’s Most Promising Women Entrepreneurs, Forbes 30 under 30 list, Black Enterprise’s Innovator of the Year, and Scientist of the Year by the Harvard Foundation. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
